HELPING THE TRUST
THE SEVEN DIALS RENAISSANCE PROJECT – A NATIONAL EXEMPLAR
As a small charity doing big things in the heart of our capital city as a
national exemplar we need your support to preserve and enhance this remarkable
townscape – the only part of our city which remains from late Stuart England in
the 1690’s. As you can see from this website our public realm work with our
partners aims to set an exemplar for other city centre conservation areas, and
our current improvements in Seven Dials have been speedily copied by others in
London’s West End.
Our first achievement was reconstructing the Sundial Pillar at Seven Dials and
as the Architects Journal wrote:
‘The re-erected column now serves as a wonderful object-lesson in the creation
both of urban space and of street life. What had degenerated into a mere
crossroads has once again become a Classical circus and, thanks to the built-in
seating at the base of the column, it has also become a popular place for
meeting, sitting and conversation’ CLICK HERE (1)

‘…if the proposals for Seven Dials were carried out they would lead to a
national show-piece and something to which many could turn as a source for
guidance.’ Royal Town Planning Institute.
We work within a partnership (a long standing tradition in Covent Garden long
before such partnership models became fashionable) – Our Trust, various
departments of Camden Council, Shaftesbury PLC, and our colleagues in the Covent
Garden Community Association. For our lighting project this is extended to also
include: the City of Westminster, the Corporation of London, English Heritage
and the Mercers’ Company. You can see details in the ‘Lighting Seven Dials’
section of the website.
We have a number of unusual and we hope imaginative sponsorship schemes. You can
us help by:-
