Street History Plaque Sponsorship

Seven Dials General Street History Plaque Seven Dials General Street History Plaque

Five Street History Plaques – Seven Dials, Short’s Gardens, Monmouth Street, Mercer Street and Earlham Street – have been installed. They give an overview of the area as well as information about the fascinating history of the specific streets, with illustrations. The material is taken from historian Steve Denford’s research which also informs our People’s Plaques project.

Sponsors for these plaques are Shaftesbury plc (Seven Dials plaque); The Mercers' Company (Mercer Street plaque); trustee Anja Saunders (Short's Gardens plaque); CBRE Global Investors (Earlham Street plaque); and an iconic local business has sponsored the plaque for Monmouth Street.

A further five streets are due to receive plaques shortly – Neal Street, Langley Street, Long Acre, Shelton Street and the stretch of Mercer Street between Long Acre and Shelton Street. These have been spnsored by The Mercers' Company.

We are very happy to discuss the posibility of extending the scheme to other streets in the area.
